Cormac Dooley, aka Doolsta, is trading his Philadelphia Union gear for MLS expansion team Nashville SC.
The defending eMLS Cup champion has signed on with Nashville SC, which will be paying his tuition at Temple University, according to an article published in the Tennessean.
The 19-year-old graduated from West Chester East High School, where he played varsity soccer, in June.
He became the Union’s first gamer after winning a regional open FIFA competition in March 2018. After advancing to the conference semifinal in the first ever eMLS Cup in April 2018, he won it all last April to complete an esports treble that included wins at two previous league trophy competitions.
The Irishman, who was born in Paoli, but spent the better part of his youth in Galway, Ireland, had opportunities to play college soccer but decided to stick to gaming and enroll in classes at Temple.
When he plays his first tournament for Nashville SC — the FUT 20 Champions Cup in Romania next month — Doolsta will be the first gamer to compete for more than one MLS club.
The Union have also been repped by gamer Jeffrey Acevedo (JisforJeff), who won the team’s eSports College Clash last October. The New Yorker was introduced by the team last December in a video where he sets fire to New York Red Bulls and NYCFC jerseys.
