Union II tops FC Motown on two set piece goals in friendly

Set piece goals from Jack Jasinski and Jackson Gilman led Philadelphia Union II to a 2-0 win over FC Motown on a windy Sunday afternoon in Chester.

Coming off a 3-1 win over West Chester United, Union II was able to get a second straight result against one of West Chester’s rivals, a top amateur club in New Jersey that competes in the NPSL, Northeast Elite Soccer League and USL League Two.

“We were pretty good today with our attacks coming from really good defending and we pressed really well,” Philadelphia Union II head coach Marlon LeBlanc said in a recap on the team website. “We are very young with quite a bit of the U-17s to balance us out but all together we were very good. Our pressing is good and it is leading to some attacks.”

As they did last week, Union II had three different lineups playing three 30-minute periods. Forward Shaynder Borgelin was unavailable because he went to Florida with the first team thin at the forward spot. Diego Lopez returned to the team after a U16 camp with Mexico and Caden Stafford was also back with the group. Highly touted 2006-born prospect Bajung Darboe played in the third period.
