Philadelphia Union midfielder Jack McGlynn received his second January Camp call-up for the U.S. Men’s National Team ahead of a pair of matches in Florida.

McGlynn, 21, made his senior national team debut last January. This is head coach Mauricio Pochettino’s first January Camp, which provides MLS players a chance to showcase their talents for the national team outside of camps held during regular international breaks. Of the 24 players called in, only one – unattached (for reasons) Matko Miljevic – is not currently on an MLS roster.

McGlynn is one of just four midfielders on Pochettino’s roster.

Former Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Matt Freese (Wayne, Pa.), Downingtown, Pa. native Zack Steffen and Chester, Pa.-born George Campbell also were called into camp. Freese, who had a breakout year for NYCFC last season, is in line to make his senior team debut.

Philadelphia Union starters Nathan Harriel and Quinn Sullivan were disappointing omissions from the camp. Harriel was called up last January but not feature in the one match held during camp. Sullivan had a breakout year for the Union last season but was left off the U-23 roster for the Paris Olympics and has yet to earn a senior national team call-up.

Brian White, who played on the Union U-17 team that won the 2012 Generation adidas Cup, earned his second January Camp call-up after making his debut last January.

The USMNT will play Venezuela on January 7 in Fort Lauderdale and Costa Rica on January 22 in Orlando.

“We are extremely excited to work with a new group of players and continue to implement our ideas,” Pochettino said in a news release. “As I have said, MLS is very important to the National Team project, and these players have earned this opportunity.”
