West Chester United will get a chance to defend the national title they won at the Hank Steinbrecher Cup in 2023 as part of the competition in New Hampshire this June.

West Chester United, which won it the last time it was contested in Arizona in 2023, was invited to participate to replace defending National Amateur Cup champions New York Pancyprian Freedoms, which dropped out of the event. They’ll join NPSL champions El Farolito and USL League Two champions Seacoast United Phantoms and the still to be determined champion from the USSSA. The matches will be played on June 6 and June 8 at Manchester High School in Manchester, New Hampshire.

The 2025 competition will be the 10th for the USASA National Amateur Championship. Flint City Bucks won it four straight years prior to West Chester’s win in 2023. Carolina Dynamo won the inaugural cup in 2013, RWB Adria in 2014, Chattanooga FC in 2013 and Chicago Fire U23 in 2014. West Chester United lost to Chicago Fire U23s in the 2016 competition and defeated Ventura County Fusion in penalty kicks after a 4-4 draw in the 2023 final.

Steinbrecher, the Secretary General of the U.S. Soccer Federation, died at the age of 77 in March at his home in Tucson, Arizona.
