Harrisburg City Islanders’ Dante Leverock gets international call-up

The Islanders' center back will represent his native Bermuda against Cuba.

The Harrisburg City Islanders’ Dante Leverock will be with the Bermudian National Team as they face off against Cuba tonight in a 2017 Gold Cup Qualifying match. Leverock will look to add to his four caps and one goal for Bermuda, who are currently ranked 164th by FIFA.

The 6-foot-4 center back from Hamilton, Bermuda, is just three weeks shy of his 24th birthday, and played in 22 games for the Islanders in 2015. Leverock scored three goals and played a part in nine shutouts for Harrisburg. He is expected to help anchor a defense that saw a lot of turnover during this past offseason, including seeing fellow center back Ken Tribbett sign with Bethlehem Steel, then the Philadelphia Union.

Cuba will host the Bermudians at 7:00 p.m. Eastern. Unfortunately, the match will not be streamed or shown on television. Harrisburg will open their season this Saturday when they head to Virginia to face the Richmond Kickers. Leverock is expected to be back with Islanders in time for the match.
