Found Him! Maurice Edu to Bethlehem

The former USMNT international is joining Bethlehem for a rehabilitation game

There we go. According to well, everyone, Maurice Edu is making a stop in Bethlehem before joining the Union after all. We sort of speculated about it here, but now we’ve found Maurice Edu. The 30 year old is coming off a stress fracture that has sidelined him since the end of last season, and ever since Union head coach Jim Curtin alluded to the idea, we’ve been waiting for this day.

It’ll be an interesting dynamic. Mo is the most seasoned player to come through Bethlehem Steel FC – if not the whole of USL this season, with his experience at Glasgow Rangers, Stoke City FC and Bursapor being a direct contrast to the relative inexperience of just about everyone he’ll share the field with. Another interesting tidbit is that he is the first person to ever play in USL with an active designated player tag. Bryan Rochez did come to mind, but apparently the USL has confirmed that Mo will be the first ever.
