Report: Philadelphia Union makes offer for Colombian striker

The Philadelphia Union have reportedly made an offer for Colombian striker Dario Rodriguez. The 21 year old Colombian striker currently plays for Atlético Bucaramanga in Colombia’s Categoría Primera A (first division), however his rights are owned by Santa Fe. The report, from Colombian journalist Diego Rueda with Alargue Caracol that was discovered by the Union Rumors twitter account last night, also says that offers have been made to Bucaramanga by Junior FC (also of the Categoría Primera A), the Union, and an un-named Russian club.

Rodriguez has nine goals in twenty matches in the 2016 Clausura tournament – a breakout season for him. Prior to the 2016 Clausura, he had only scored six goals in 69 appearances. He has also made appearances for Colombia’s U20 team.

Rodriguez stands 5’8” and reports have him at approximately 160 pounds, so there are concerns he won’t match up well against MLS center backs. It’s also worth noting that this stems from one report, and nothing more substantial has been reported. We will continue to monitor this should any new developments occur.
