The Philadelphia Union went down to the nation’s capital and put a beating on D.C. United, getting a convincing 4-0 win over their rivals.
The Union got the scoring started in the 38th minute on a Haris Medunjanin rocket from long distance. In the 54th minute, D.C.’s Luciano Acosta was sent off for a dangerous retaliation tackle on Ilsinho. In the 64th minute, Oguchi Onyewu scored on a header to give the Union a two goal lead. Fafa Picault also hit a rocket in the 80th minute to put the Union up 3-0. Fabian Herbers also hit a one-timer from Alejandro Bedoya to make it 4-0.
