F&M president writes about soccer trip to South Africa, Pedro Ribeiro named USL Player of the Week & more

Franklin & Marshall President Dan Porterfield wrote about his trip to South Africa with the college’s men’s and women’s soccer teams on Forbes.com.

Harrisburg City Islanders forward Pedro Ribeiro was named USL Player of the Week after scoring a goal and an assist in a 4-3 win over Toronto FC II. Bethlehem Steel FC defender Aaron Jones was an honorable mention after getting his first professional goal against Richmond Kickers.

Rider University midfielder Jose Aguinaga was named to the PDL Team of the Week after scoring a hat trick for New York Red Bulls U23 in a win over Jersey Express on June 28. Reading United forward Khori Bennett was an honorable mention.

Continental FC midfielder Joseph Martini (Chester Springs, Pa.) verbally committed to play college soccer at Drexel, beginning in the fall of 2018.

Navy men’s soccer has an article about the upcoming Army-Navy Cup at Talen Energy Stadium on October 15, at 2 p.m.

Former University of Delaware midfielder Ben Sampson has been named Scholar Athlete of the Year for the Colonial Athletic Association. He’s the first UD male athlete to receive the honor.

NPSL.com caught up with former Bethlehem Steel FC goalkeeper Matt Perrella, who has been playing this summer for New Jersey Copa.

Saint Joseph’s released its fall 2017 schedule. Drexel also released theirs.
