High school soccer coming to Talen Energy Stadium, local college standouts receive preseason honors and more

The University of Delaware landed five players on the Colonial Athletic Association preseason all-conference team in junior midfielder Robert Gillin (Marlton, N.J.), redshirt junior goalkeeper Todd Morton (West Chester, Pa.), senior captain and defender Thibault Philippe, sophomore midfielder Fede Prieto and junior captain and defender John Schroeder, a Philadelphia Union Academy grad. William & Mary defender Tanner Shane (Macungie, Pa.) was an honorable mention.

La Salle University has a new playing surface at McCarthy Stadium.

High school soccer is coming to Talen Energy Stadium on October 3 with a boys and girls doubleheader between Friends Central and Shipley School.

Benfica goalkeeper CJ dos Santos (Philadelphia, Pa.) was one of 22 players named to John Hackworth’s United States U17 roster for a tournament in the Czech Republic.

Villanova senior midfielder Andreas Bartosinski was named to the preseason All-Big East team.

Temple senior forward Joonas Jokinen was named preseason all-conference in the American Athletic. Jokinen scored a goal in a 2-1 loss to Lafayette in an exhibition game on Monday (Click here to see photos from the match).

Philadelphia Union Academy grad Josue Monge (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored a goal in an exhibition game for the University of South Florida.

Philadelphia Union Academy grad Mo Conde (Philadelphia, Pa.) has transferred from NAIA University of Mobile to Florida International, where he joins Reading United teammate Paul Marie.

Matt McClain profiled Philadelphia Union Academy grad and current Bethlehem Steel FC defender Matthew Real (Drexel Hill, Pa.)

Ocean City Nor’easters alum Chevaughn Walsh made the USL Team of the Week while Bethlehem Steel FC attacker Cory Burke was honorable mention.

Former Bethlehem Steel FC goalkeeper Matt Perrella signed with Pittsburgh Riverhounds after Keasel Broome (Claymont, Del.) suffered a season-ending injury.
