Four teams from the Philadelphia area are just two wins away from advancing to the first official round of the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. But only two will survive this weekend to make it to the third and final round of local qualifying for amateur teams.

West Chester United will host Phoenix SC at 7:30 p.m. on their home turf on Saturday in one of two local qualifying matches in the area. A day later, United German Hungarians will take on the Junior Lone Star U23 team at 3 p.m. at United Germany Hungarian Club in Oakford.

Five other games will be played in the Northeast Region qualifiers over the weekend, including one by last year’s amateur darlings Christos FC in Maryland. There are a total of 27 matches happening across the country in the Northeast, Southeast, Mountain and Pacific regions.

The third and final qualifying round will be played Nov. 18-19.
