McLaughlin Scores Game Winner In First Start For Colgate, Named Rookie Of The Week
Philadelphia Union academy star Jimmy McLaughlin is already making an impact at Colgate, as the freshman has impressed in his first two games in college.
The 19-year-old started his first ever collegiate game against Syracuse on August 27, scoring in the 53rd minute to beat the Orange. McLaughlin picked up on a save that was spilled back out into the Syracuse box and slotted it home, providing the Raiders with all the scoring they needed. He followed up his debut goal with a 97 minute performance versus Hartwick, exiting the game 13 minutes before Colgate's eventual game winner.
Currently credited with two points despite only scoring a single goal and having no assists, so far, McLaughlin was named as the BRINE Patriot League Rookie of the Week. The attacking midfielder first made his way into the minds of Union fans with his display against English Premier League club Everton, when he embarrassed English international left back Leighton Baines.
