Trinidad And Tobago Defeats Barbados 2-0, Keon Daniel Nets The First Goal
Keon Daniel's 20th minute goal helped Trinidad and Tobago beat Barbados in the second round of 2014 World Cup qualifying. Daniel made his first start for the country in qualifying, after impressing in 54 minutes of Trinidad's 1-0 win over Bermuda last week.
Playing all 90 minutes, Daniel was a thorn in Barbados' side all game, pumping threatening corners into the box and on multiple occasions nearly combining with star striker Kenwyne Jones around the 18. The 20th minute brought joy for both Daniel and Trinidad, as the 25-year-old attacking midfielder was able to put the ball into the back of Barbados' net, the ninth of his international career. Later in the game, in the 69th minute, fellow Trinidadian Daryl Roberts scored to give the team a 2-0 lead, which ended up being the result.
Daniel has a goal and two assists for the Philadelphia Union in 2011 MLS league play, with his last assist – and minutes played – coming in August 20’s 2-1 loss to the Columbus Crew.
