Minnesota United FC announced today that they had signed former Philadelphia Union winger Danny Cruz. Cruz had been without a club since the Union released him after a stint on loan with FK Bodø/Glimt in Norway’s Tippeligaen (First Division).

Cruz spent his first five years in MLS, starting with the Houston Dynamo in 2009 and moving to D.C. United in January of 2012. Halfway through the 2012 campaign, Cruz was traded to the Union for Lionard Pajoy and an international roster spot. Cruz flourished with the Union, appearing in 70 matches, scoring seven goals and contributing five assists. Always running, always willing to put his body on the line, Cruz wound up spending the past year on loan in Norway. He returned at the end of the season, and his contract option with the Union was declined.

At Minnesota United, Cruz should be able earn a starting spot and be a leader on the team. He has the experience and was always considered a good locker room presence.

Good luck Danny. We'll always have this.

And this.

We'll see you when Minnesota United FC joins MLS in 2017 or 2018.
