Player rating results: Confused in Chicago

When the score of a game is three for the bad guys and zero for the good guys there's more than enough blame to go around and not much praise. The fans and pundits didn't agree on who to blame and they were equally confused about the team "MVP". Let's take a look at the results of this week's survey:

Where to begin. First of all Tranquillo Barnetta edged out Chris Pontius for player of the game according to the fans, but it’s Pontius who gets the overall nod, as subtle as it may be. This is Pontius’ eighth overall player of the match award, by far the team lead. It’s worth noting that the fans have only voted Pontius as best player twice this season.

After this it just gets weird and so we have to move to bullets:

• The fans have it in for Ken Tribbett and it’s not completely wrong. He’s been voted least valuable player now six times in the last nine games he’s played. This time though, no one else agreed as he was voted overall tied for fourth best player.
• Roland Alberg was forgiven for his own goal by the fans and voted fourth best player, but overall he ranked last for the second time this season.
• Warren Creavalle was crushed by Adam Cann of PSP yet the bot over at Whoscored game him the man of the match with an 8.08 rating. Confusion is king when it’s 3-0. Digging in, Creavalle had a monster game statistically, emphasis on large claws. Get this. He totaled seven tackles, ten interceptions and ten recoveries. That’s almost a defensive triple double, which isn’t even a thing in soccer.
• PSP gave John McCarthy man of the match because he really didn’t do anything wrong. Fans voted him second lowest. You’ve already got the picture.
