Kai Wagner will not be the only Philadelphia Union player heading to the city of angels this week. The league announced Friday that goalkeeper Andre Blake has been addd to the All-Star game roster. This is the first time a Union player has been selected three times.

Blake was also the first Union player to be selected twice. As he represented the team in 2016 and 2019. The 30-year-old joined the U, when he was selected first overall in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft. With that selection, he also became the first goalkeeper to be drafted first overall.

This is also the third time in club history that two players have been named to the same All-Star team. Wagner and Blake will be taking part of a first-time matchup for the league, as the All-Stars will be facing stars from LIGA MX.

MLS All-Stars were voted in by the following: 12 players determined by a combined vote of fan, media, and players; 12 players selected by All-Star Head Coach Bob Bradley; 2 players selected by MLS Commissioner Don Garber. Liga MX All-Stars were selected by the following: The first 14 selections were winners and nominees for the Balon de Oro awards in the categories of best goalkeeper, fullback, defender, defensive midfielder, attacking midfield, rookie and forward; 11 players were selected by Cruz Azul Head Coach Juan Reynoso; and one player was decided by Executive President Mikel Arriola.

This year’s game takes place Wednesday, August 25 at Banc of California Stadium. Kickoff for the game is set for 9 p.m. on FS1.
