Union 2 withdraws from tournament in Colombia after fire at hotel

One individual in the traveling party was treated for minor smoke inhalation

Philadelphia Union 2 is returning home to Philadelphia from Colombia after being awoken early Wednesday morning to a fire in the hotel where they were staying.

One individual in the traveling party, which included 21 players, coaches and staff members, was treated for minor smoke inhalation but the rest of the group staying at the hotel in Cartagena were evacuated safely, according to a statement from the club.

Union 2 was set to play their third group match in the Torneo Las Americas Elite on Wednesday morning. They won the first two matches of the U18 competition on Monday and Tuesday.
