It’s finally here – the start of eight months of Major League Soccer matches, beginning with the highly-anticipated season opener for the Philadelphia Union against Columbus tomorrow night. With kickoff set for 7:30 P.M, fans can’t wait to see the boys in blue back at Subaru Park.

The team recently wrapped up their preseason in Florida with a bang, securing a 4-1 victory over Colorado and finishing with an impressive 4-1-2 record overall. Wins against Austin FC, New England Revolution, and FC Cincinnati have fans feeling optimistic about the upcoming season.

As we shift gears from preseason to regular season, we’re excited to bring you a ton of fresh content daily, including our annual Preseason Reader Survey. We’re eagerly anticipating hearing your thoughts on what you expect from the Union this year, and whether you think they have what it takes to make it to the Eastern Conference Final for the third time.

For those who may have missed the offseason news, the Union will be without Paxten Aaronson, Cory Burke, and Matt Freese this year, as all three have been transferred out of the club. Aaronson’s transfer was expected and rumored as the 2022 season came to a close, and he is now playing overseas for Eintracht Frankfurt. Burke has moved up I-95 to play for the Red Bulls, while goalkeeper Freese has joined NYCFC.

On the flip side, the Union have made some exciting additions to their roster, including Andres Perea from Orlando City, Damion Lowe from Inter Miami CF, and Joaquin Torres from CF Montreal. Fans can’t wait to see how these new faces will fare on the field.

With the start of the season just around the corner, we’re eager to hear your predictions on everything from which player will surprise everyone to what head coach Jim Curtin needs to do to lead the Union to the MLS Finals this year. Share your thoughts with us here at Philadelphia Soccer Now as we eagerly anticipate the start of what promises to be an exciting season. Let us know by filling out the survey or leaving a comment below.
