With just one performance in the books, Julian Carranza and Daniel Gazdag are already picking up awards.

The duo was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for their performances in the Philadelphia Union’s season opener against Columbus Crew SC. Both players earned roles in the league’s best XI.

Against the Crew, Carranza netted two goals, tied for the best early on in the league’s golden boot race.

Gazdag also netted two goals against Columbus, both from penalty kicks. He was also credited with assists on both of Carranza’s goals. The assists gave him the outright lead in the golden boot after one week of action.

Darke Callender and Sergei Kryvtsov of Inter Miami CF were also named to the Team of the Matchday. The Union will face the duo on Saturday, March 4 when it travels to Fort Lauderdale for MLS action against Miami. Phil Neville’s squad sits just behind Philadelphia in second place in the Eastern Conference after picking up a win against CF Montreal.
