Game Thread: Union 0 vs Alianza 0, Final (Concacaf Champions League)

Game Updates

90+4′- Final whistle and the Union’s gamble on the heavy rotation paid off with a 0-0 draw.

90+3′- Free kick here for Alianza. The taker basically ran 15 yards to send it over the net. Afterwards they brought on their third change of the evening.

90+1- We will see at least 4 minutes of added time here. Also, Alianza made their second switch of the night.

89′- Harriel crosses a ball into the box and it is pushed out by the goalie for a corner. The kick amounted to nothing.

79′- Flach is coming on here to replace McGlynn.

71′- Getting chippy here in the final twenty minutes after a hard foul by Martinez. The bunch of players swarm together and the refs get in the middle of it to separate the players.

 

69′- Play is stopped as a dog runs onto the field and was able to grab a hold of the ball with no challenge from any player.

65′- Lowe mistimes his challenge for the ball and earns a yellow for the hard challenge.

63′- Three changes here for the U, bringing on Martinez, Gazdag, and Carranza. They replace Sullivan, Bueno, and Torres.

59′- A nice combination by the Union to get off a great chance in front of the net that is saved by the goalkeeper.

56′- Alianza’s third corner of the night is sent far across the field and was defended by the Union.

54′- A great look for the Union here except Sullivan couldn’t convert his shot as he got spooked by the goalkeeper coming out to close down.

50′- Alianza finally cut through the defense and was able to get a shot on goal, but Blake was able to easily handle it.

46′- Play gets underway for the second half.

45′- Halftime whistle and the two teams head to their locker room.

33′- Another set piece for Alianza, this one is a free kick from the left side of the net. The ball is sent directly toward Blake, who lunges forward to punch it out to safety.

31′- Alianza with a corner from the far flag. Service is directed towards the near post, after the ball gets popped in the air, Blake punches it out.

27′- After Alianza gets a shot off, that is saved by Blake, was taken off the board after the shooter was ruled offsides.

19′- Another great chance for the U but they were not able to convert.

16′- Wasted opportunity as Donovan gets the ball that falls to his feet. He only had the keeper to beat, but he braced for contact that never came and got called for diving.

12′- Best chance from any team here as the Union get a shot off from inside the penalty area, but the ball goes wide of the net.

1′- The game is now underway. The Union is in navy blue and is attacking from right to left.
