Union Academy grad MD Myers signs with NYCFII

Delran, N.J. native MD Myers will begin his professional career with NYCFC II in MLS Next Pro.

The YSC Academy grad who starred in college at High Point and Rutgers was announced Friday along with a slew of other signings for NYCFC’s second team ahead of their season opener on Sunday at New England Revolution II.

Myers was drafted 66th overall by NYCFC in the most recent MLS SuperDraft. The former Ocean City Nor’easters forward spent his final season in college leading Rutgers with 13 goals and 7 assists. He had 21 goals and 8 assists during his time at High Point. He was a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy in the spring of 2021 after scoring 14 goals in 14 games and adding 4 assists.

Myers is one of several former Union Academy players on MLS Next Pro teams this season.

Inter Miami signed Nyk Sessock to an MLS Next Pro deal earlier this year, Joey DeZart is playing for Huntsville City FC, Diego Lopez and Axel Picazo are with LA Galaxy II, Zion Scarlett is with Columbus Crew 2 and Selmir Miscic and Dawson McCartney are both on MLS Next Pro deals with Portland Timbers 2.

NYCFCII will visit Subaru Park on August 4.
