Game Updates

90+5′- We have a late set piece for Atlas. It is fired into the area, and it goes out of play. Before the restart the ref blows the whistle to make the game final.

90+4′- Sullivan gets a weak shot off, making it easy for Vargas to cradle.

90+1′- We will only have four minutes of stoppage time. Curtin does not look happy that it is only four.

89′- Gazdag puts the ball down and goes to the bottom right, Vargas guesses correctly but it goes off his underside and into the goal. Union up 1-nil.

87′- Vargas again comes off the line, is nowhere near the ball, and takes down Carranza. The ref points straight at the spot. While waiting for the PK a yellow card was shown to Lozana. This means he is also out the second leg due to yellow card accumulation.

85′- The U with another corner kick. This one is from the near flag. Lowe rushes toward the ball and then falls down.

82′- Union with another good opportunity from outside the box. Glesnes runs up and hammers the ball, but it rises and goes over the crossbar. We’re talking centimeters.

81′- An Atlas player goes down in the box, stopping play. During the stop, Atlas also makes a player change.

76′- Back-to-back corners here; the first one was from the far-flag. The second was from the near flag and went out for a goal kick.

74′- McGlynn gets an excellent strike from outside the box, but it is straight down the middle and easy for the goalkeeper to push it over the net.

72′- Sullivan comes on for Mbaizo. This is Curtin’s second change of the night.

71′- McGlynn now takes a shot from outside the box, and it gets deflected off the arm of the Atlas player.

69′- Free kick for the union here; Glesnes is lining up for it. His shot is deflected off the wall and ends up in the hands of the goalkeeper.

67′- Off the quick rollout from Blake, Martinez gets the ball up the field. Uhre gets a 1v1 opportunity, gets a shot off between the guy’s leg, and hits the post.

64′- Atlas’ Abella is shown a yellow for time wasting.

60′ – Carranza gets hit in the leg as he takes a shot and goes down in the box. The Union gets the second chance ball and eventually goes out for a goal kick.

59′- Jim Curtin is making his first change of the night, bringing on Uhre for Torres. The are also switching the tactics to a 4-4-2.

57′- The U are threatening here. One of the more successful attacks here in the second half. Bedoya with the give-and-go from the right side of the penalty area to the top of the box. He gets a shot off, but Atlas deflects it.

54′- Gazdag and Atlas goalkeeper collide as Vargas comes rushing off his line and gets a fingertip on the ball. No penalty.

50′- Not a lot in a takedown, minus Glesnes wrapping his hand around the neck of the Atlas player. The teams came together, but it was just a little dust-up.

49’- Maize creeps into the penalty area and picks up a nice pass from Martinez. However, he was clearly offside.

46’- After Atlas delayed coming out of the locker room, the game gets back underway.

Before the half kicks off, there is a sub for Atlas. Bringing on Abella for Furch. With them being down a man, they took off an attacker for a defender.

45+6′- The wall is getting set; a man is lying on the ground behind it to block the low shot. The free kick is just a shy outside of the penalty area. McGlynn stands over and, on the start, fakes going for it as Carranza sends it just wide of the net immediately after we have the whistle for halftime.

45+3′- Gazdag gets in behind the defense and is taken down outside the box. The ref shows a red card to Santamaria for denying an obvious scoring opportunity.

45+2′- After going to the monitor, the ref says no PK. We now play on.

45+1′- We will have about 2 minutes of stoppage time and when we just went into it, Carranza falls inside the box. Atlas is calling for a dive and Carranza is looking for a PK. As Atlas’ Goalkeeper was about to kick the ball we have the ref heading to the monitor for VAR.

45′- Blake with his third save of the night after an awkward shot off the ankle of Atlas’ player.

44′- Lowe went down awkwardly in the Union’s box. But he is up now, and they get the game back underway.

38′- Gazdag gets fouled while cutting across the top of the box. McGlynn powers it above the crossbar.

34′- Free kick for the Union here. McGlynn stands over it and hooks it into the 18-yard box, and the header connects and looks like it gets deflected for a corner kick. The kick is played quickly and in short. It led to a counter by Atlas, which ended when he played was called for offsides.

29′- Harriel gets a great run and is served with a deep ball inside the box. He gets around the defender and is brought down in the penalty area. The call on the field was not a Penalty.

28′- Union with another corner here. McGlynn is standing at the far flag. The swinging ball found Glesnes, but Atlas cleared it out.

26′- Atlas’s forward gets behind the defense and has a 1v1 with Blake. Blake looked to have it handled until Lowe bulldozers over him, letting the ball get free again. Lowe than recovers to block the second chance shot at the line, and the Union finally gets out of trouble for a goal kick.
