David Vazquez was named rising star of MLS Next Pro matchday after scoring the game-winning goal in Philadelphia Union II’s first win of the campaign on Sunday against Chicago Fire II.

The 17-year-old put in a strong performance even before scoring the late winner creating chances for the Union II attack. He had two passes that with better finishing would’ve resulted in a pair of assists and was pressuring the Chicago Fire midfield late to help his team earn all three points on the road.

Vazquez made his second start in the match and has now logged 135 minutes on the young season. He was also a key contributor to the Under-17 team winning the Generation adidas Cup in Florida earlier this month.
