Lower League Round-Up: Week of May 29

In this week’s local lower league round-up, Salone FC and Oaklyn United both pull off upsets in dominating fashion in the EPSL playoffs. Also, Philadelphia Lone Star clinch a title and West Chester United add more silverware to their trophy case.

Eastern Premier Soccer League (EPSL)

  • The EPSL playoffs began on Sunday 6/4 in the Delaware River Conference. We saw two upsets with 3 seed Oaklyn United beating 2 seed Philadelphia SC 5-0. Not to be outdone, 4 seed Salone FC upset regular season champion Philadelphia Heritage 5-0 as well.
  • Oaklyn United face Salone FC for the EPSL Delaware River Conference playoff championship on Sunday 6/11 at 6:15 p.m. at Drexel Vidas Field. The winner will advance to the EPSL final 4.
  • Salone will be looking to defend their title as they won the EPSL Delaware River Conference playoff championship last season.

-In the CASA Select Division, Vidas Elite finished top of the table and will be offered promotion to EPSL next season.

-In the promotion playoffs to determine the second offered promotion place, Gremio Philadelphia will face Philadelphia Sierra Stars at 4 p.m. at Drexel Vidas Field.

United Premier Soccer League (UPSL)

  • In a top of the table clash on Sunday 6/4, Philadelphia Lone Star defeated NY Renegades 3-1. The win gives Lone Star the UPSL Northeast – American conference regular season title and a bye in the playoffs.
  • Lone Star have one game remaining in their bid to finish the regular season undefeated. They currently have an 8-2-0 (W-D-L) record and play at Pennsylvania Prime at 1 p.m. on Sunday 6/11.
  • Lancaster Elite play their final regular season game away on Saturday 6/10 at New Jersey Alliance FC. A win for Lancaster and they will make the playoffs.

National Premier Soccer League (NPSL)

  • Saturday 6/3 – Jackson Lions 0-1 Atlantic City FC
  • Saturday 6/3 – Hershey FC 3-0 Torch FC
  • Saturday 6/3 – Philadelphia Union Development Squad 3-2 FC Monmouth
  • Sunday 6/4 – First State FC 0-2 FC Motown

  • Saturday 6/10 – Torch FC vs West Chester United at 6 p.m.
  • Saturday 6/10 – Philadelphia Union Development Squad vs FC Motown at 6 p.m. at YSC Sports Complex

USL League 2 (USL2)

  • Tuesday 5/30 – West Chester United 4-0 Philadelphia Lone Star FC
  • Friday 6/2 – Real Central NJ 4-1 Lehigh Valley United
  • Sunday 6/4 – Lehigh Valley United 3-3 Philadelphia Lone Star FC
