Philadelphia Union II announced an upcoming friendly against Wrexham AFC, the subjects of the hit docuseries “Welcome to Wrexham,” on July 28th at Subaru Park.

Owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Philly’s own Rob McElhenney, Wrexham AFC recently secured their place in EFL League Two, England’s fourth division. This friendly at Subaru Park is a perfect chance to watch them in action, a unique opportunity that Union President Tim McDermott is excited about. He believes this match is an invaluable occasion for Philadelphia Union II to showcase their prowess against an internationally recognized team.

Wrexham AFC’s remarkable rise, culminating in their promotion to EFL League Two after a resounding 3-1 victory over Boreham Wood, was recorded in the award-winning series, “Welcome to Wrexham.” This friendly will be an extension of their journey, and fans have a chance to be a part of it.

Wrexham AFC manager Phil Parkinson is equally enthusiastic about the friendly. Not only will the match be a crucial part of their preparations for the upcoming season, but also a chance to engage with the American fanbase, including their co-chairman, Rob McElhenney’s hometown.

Fun Fact: Established in 1864, Wrexham AFC is one of the oldest soccer clubs in the world. Their Hollywood co-owners and thrilling journey to the EFL League Two have given them a unique space in the soccer world.
