As summer comes to a close, the heat slightly subsides, the weekend trips to the beach fade into memories, colorful leaves begin to line the streets, and lest anyone forget, lower league soccer returns. With games already under way, let’s take a look at the local leagues and teams playing the beautiful game in the Philadelphia area this fall.

  • United Soccer League of Pennsylvania (USLPA)
    • USLPA plays on the traditional European soccer calendar, with an extended winter break. The fall portion of the 2023/24 season is now underway. Clubs competing in the men’s majors division:
      • West Chester United
      • United German Hungarians
      • Colonial SC
      • Vereinigung Erzgebirge
      • Ukrainian Nationals
      • Lancaster City FC
      • Lighthouse SC
      • Phoenix SC
    • Clubs competing in the women’s division:
      • Ukrainian Nationals
      • Huntingdon Valley Pride
      • Lancaster City FC
      • Lower South
      • Vereinigung Erzgebirge
      • Danubia
      • United German Hungarians
      • Philadelphia Flames SC
    • For full schedules and standings, including reserve team schedules, visit the USLPA website.
  • Eastern Premier Soccer League (EPSL)
    • EPSL also plays on the traditional European calendar with an extended winter break and the fall portion of the 2023/24 season is underway as well. Clubs competing in the EPSL Delaware River Conference:
      • Alloy Soccer Club
      • Philadelphia Soccer Club
      • Oaklyn United Nor’easters
      • Vidas Elite
      • Philadelphia Heritage SC
      • Inter Vidas
      • Kensington SC
      • Salone FC
      • Real Central NJ
  • United Premier Soccer League (UPSL)
    • UPSL plays a separate spring season and a separate fall season. The UPSL 2023 fall season is underway with three local teams competing in the Premier Division, in the Northeast-American Conference:
      • Lancaster FC
      • Philadelphia Lone Star FC
      • Philadelphia Union Development Squad
    • For full schedules and standings, including the women’s division and the UPSL second tier –  UPSL Division 1, visit the UPSL website.
  •  Tri-County Women’s Soccer League (TCWSL)
    • TCWSL plays two seasons, spring and fall, and the fall 2023 season is currently underway. There are over 20 local Philadelphia area teams competing in three different divisions.

Additionally, Eastern Pennsylvania state cups begin toward the end of fall with the Frank Giancroce Open Cup and Robert M. O’Neill Amateur Cup. Also, the qualifying rounds for next year’s US Open Cup are underway with six local teams competing for a chance to play in the famed tournament.

So with all of that, I’d like to wish a happy soccer fall to all.
