It took an overtime winner on a free kick from Dominic Francis to finally give Harrisburg Heat fans something to cheer about on Saturday night.

Francis scored the golden goal winner in front of 2,077 fans at the Equine Arena in the Pennsylvania Farm Show complex to secure the team’s first win of the season, 4-3 over the Baltimore Blast.

Looking to avoid an 11th straight defeat to start the season after dropping their 10th in a row to Utica City the night before, Malcolm Harris was able to equalize for the hosts with under seven minutes left in the fourth quarter on a power play. Francis assisted Harris on the goal that sent the game to overtime.

Francis had two goals on the night, Elton de Oliveira and Harris each scored one while Francis and Danny DiPrima each had an assist. Philly soccer legend Tony Donatelli had a goal for the visitors.

The Heat return to the road next weekend with games in St. Louis and Milwaukee on February 2 and 3. The Heat return home to the Equine Arena in the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23 and 24 to play the Monterrey Flash and the Baltimore Blast.
