Lionel Messi is a question mark for Inter Miami’s visit to Subaru Park in June but fans could get a chance to see the World Cup winner and Argentina take on El Salvador at Lincoln Financial Field on March 22.

The friendly is one of two U.S. friendlies announced on Thursday. Argentina will play Nigeria at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on March 26.

The matches replace two previously scheduled friendlies in China, where a large public backlash ensued after Messi didn’t play in a match between Inter Miami and a Hong Kong select team that was part of the team’s epic preseason world tour. Argentina was slated to play Nigeria and Ivory Coast in those matches.

The Lincoln Financial Field match – the first international friendly since Germany and Mexico played last October – could also be a homecoming for Tomas Romero, the El Salvador international from Cherry Hill, N.J. who recently signed with NYCFC.
