Lower League Round-Up: Week of April 29

With all the local lower league soccer being played simultaneously in the Philadelphia region, it may be tough to stay up to date with all the different teams, leagues and standings. Don’t worry though, Philadelphia Soccer Now is here with our weekly overview of all the local action. Enjoy!

United Soccer League of Pennsylvania (USLPA)

On Sunday 5/5, we saw a big result when Vereinigung Erzgebirge beat West Chester United 1-0 to narrow West Chester’s lead a top the table to only 2 points. The return fixture is this Sunday 5/12 when VE visits Delacy Soccer Complex to take on West Chester at 2 p.m. A win by VE and they will move into first place.

  • Wednesday 5/1 – Phoenix 1-2 Colonial SC
  • Thursday 5/2 – United German Hungarians 1-1 Vereinigung Erzgebirge
  • Friday 5/3 – Ukrainian Nationals 3-2 Lancaster City FC
  • Sunday 5/5 – Lancaster City FC 0-1 Colonial SC

Eastern Premier Soccer League (EPSL)

The playoff picture is pretty much locked in with the top 4 clubs in the Delaware River Conference standings making the playoffs. The winner of the EPSL Delaware River Conference playoffs will then play against the winners of the other EPSL conferences (Northeast Conference, Metropolitan Conference, Mid-Atlantic Conference) to determine the EPSL champion. The battle for the Delaware River Conference regular season title is still on but Alloy SC has a few games in hand so they are still the front runners.

Results from the week:

  • Saturday 5/4 – Kensington SC 2-4 Philadelphia SC
  • Sunday 5/5 – Salone FC 0-3 Oaklyn United
  • Sunday 5/5 – Vidas Elite 2-3 Alloy SC
  • Sunday 5/5 – Real Central NJ 0-4 Philadelphia Heritage SC

Upcoming schedule:

  • Saturday 5/11 – Alloy SC vs Kensington SC at 7pm at Lancaster Bible College
  • Sunday 5/12 – Salone FC vs Alloy SC at 5pm at Germantown Supersite
  • Sunday 5/12 – Philadelphia SC vs Inter Vidas at 6pm at Northeast HS
  • Sunday 5/12 – Real Central NJ vs Oaklyn United at 8pm at Mercer County Community College

United Premier Soccer League (UPSL)

Philadelphia Lone Star FC lost 3-1 to Javier Velasco Soccer Academy on Saturday 5/4. Next up, they play Future Soccer Academy on Sunday 5/12. Lancaster FC is in first place in the UPSL Northeast American (South) Division.

National Premier Soccer League (NPSL)

NPSL Keystone East Conference got underway on Saturday 5/4 with Jackson Lions beating Philadelphia Union Development Squad 2-1. Check out the match recap here. Also on Saturday, FC Motown beat Atlantic City FC 1-0.

This week’s schedule:

  • Saturday 5/11 – Philadelphia Union Development Squad vs FC Monmouth at 12:30 p.m. at WSFS Bank Sportsplex
  • Saturday 5/11 – Jackson Lions FC vs FC Motown at 7 p.m. at Donovan Catholic HS
  • Saturday 5/11 – WC Predators vs Atlantic City FC at 7:30 p.m. at YSC Sports

USL League 2 (USL2)

The Mid-Atlantic Division of USL2 will be getting underway this month and Philadelphia Lone Star vs West Chester United will kick things off on Saturday 5/11. Their match will be played at Bartram HS Field at 2 p.m.
