Lower League Round-Up: Week of May 6

Lower league soccer is in full swing in the greater Philadelphia area! Let’s take a look at the results from the past week as well as look ahead at the upcoming games:

United Soccer League of Pennsylvania (USLPA)

On Sunday 5/12, West Chester beat Vereinigung Erzgebirge 4-2 for a big ULSPA win to keep West Chester in first place. VE went up 2-0 but West Chester came back with 4 unanswered goals for the win. West Chester got some revenge from when VE beat them 1-0 on 5/5.

Upcoming schedule:

  • Sunday 5/19 – United German Hungarians vs Ukrainian Nationals at Temple Ambler at 2:30pm
  • Sunday 5/19 – Vereinigung Erzgebirge vs Lancaster City FC at VE at 2:30pm

Eastern Premier Soccer League (EPSL)

Congratulations to Alloy SC for winning the EPSL Delaware River Conference regular season title. They clinched the title in dramatic fashion on Saturday 5/11, by beating Kensington 3-2. Kensington was leading 2-0 up until the 83rd minute. Alloy then scored 3 goals including the stoppage time winner. The Lancaster boys put a whopping on the Philly and South Jersey teams in the Delaware River Conference this season; it was their first year in the league, they posted a 12-2-1 (W-D-L) record and won the regular season title with one game to spare. Playoffs are up next for Alloy where they will look to win the conference playoffs and advance to the EPSL final four.

The last week of the regular season takes place this weekend:

  • Saturday 5/18 – Alloy SC vs Philadelphia Heritage SC at Lancaster Bible College at 7pm
  • Sunday 5/19 – Inter Vidas vs Vidas Elite at Bartram HS Field at 11am
  • Sunday 5/19 – Real Central NJ vs Kensington SC at Rider University at 4:15pm

United Premier Soccer League (UPSL)

Philadelphia Lone Star FC beat Future Soccer Academy 5-3 on Sunday 5/12. The next game for Lone Star is against Ironbound Soccer Club on 5/18. New Jersey Alliance FC is in first place in the Northeast-American (South) conference.

National Premier Soccer League (NPSL)

NPSL Keystone East Conference results:

  • Saturday 5/11 – Philadelphia Union Development Squad 3-0 FC Monmouth
  • Saturday 5/11 – WC Predators 1-3 Atlantic City FC

The NPSL Keystone West Conference got underway earlier this week:

  • Tuesday 5/14 – West Chester United 3-1 Hershey FC
  • Saturday 5/18 – Electric City Shock vs West Chester United at University of Scranton at 5pm
  • Saturday 5/18 – Hershey FC vs Pennsylvania Classics at Middletown Area HS at 7pm
  • Saturday 5/18 – Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals vs First State FC at Ukrainian American Sport Center at 7:30m

USL League 2 (USL2)

West Chester United opened USL2 Mid-Atlantic Division play with a big 5-0 win over Philadelphia Lone Star on Saturday 5/11. Check out the full match recap here.

Upcoming schedule:

  • Saturday 5/18 – Philadelphia Lone Star vs Real Central NJ at Widener University at 2 p.m.
  • Saturday 5/18 – Lehigh Valley United vs Reading United AC at Whitehall HS at 7 p.m.
