Philadelphia Union III, the new name for the Union Development Squad, made their fall season debut in UPSL on Saturday with a road trip to New Jersey to take on Union SC.

The hosts scored first on a penalty kick from David Garcia after a foul was whistled in the box but pressure from Victor Carneiro on the left side created a turnover to Jack Illig, who set up Brett Seemuller for the finish in the box to equalize.

The two sides battled through the rest of the half and were even throughout but the hosts grabbed a winner in the 54th off a set piece goal that was headed in by Lautaro Sosa through traffic.

Union III returns home to WSFS Bank Sportsplex on Saturday to host New Jersey Alliance.

Starting XI: Alex Smith (GK), Victor Carneiro, Pedro Vercosa, Zach Greer, Max Owasu-Antwi, Matheus De Paula, Daniel Dixon, Jack Karwoski, Jack Illig, Brett Seemuller, Paul Killeen
