Eight local teams square off in US Open Cup qualifiers this weekend

Eight local teams will be kicking off the journey to the 2025 U.S. Open Cup this weekend with three games on Saturday and one on Sunday featuring area amateur teams.
Kensington SC will play EPSL rivals Vidas United FC, Alloy SC will play Oaklyn United in another EPSL match-up and West Chester United will host USLPA rival UGH in games on Saturday, October 5. Colonial SC will host USLPA rival Vereinigung Erzgebirge on Sunday, October 6.
Vereinigung Erzgebirge qualified for the U.S. Open Cup through local qualifying last year while West Chester United is looking for a third straight trip after qualifying through the NPSL for last year’s competition and qualifying through USL League Two in 2022.
Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals are receiving a second round bye. They’re one of six teams that will only need to win two games to qualify for the 2025 U.S. Open Cup.
A total of 114 teams are participating in qualifying nationwide. Just eight teams will compete in first round games, also being played the first weekend of October.
