Philadelphia native CJ dos Santos will be a San Diego FC original.

The 24-year-old former Philadelphia Union Academy and FC Delco goalkeeper was acquired by the MLS expansion team from Inter Miami earlier this week in exchange for $100,000 in 2025 general allocation money.

“CJ is a promising goalkeeper who brings international experience and depth to our squad,” San Diego’s sporting director Tyler Heaps said in a news release. “We’re thrilled to add him to our roster and look forward to his contributions as we build a competitive team for our inaugural season.”

Dos Santos signed with Inter Miami in February 2022 after spending four years in the Benfica system. He made three appearances (all competitions) for Inter Miami and 28 appearances for Inter Miami II during his time in Fort Lauderdale.

Prior to going to Portugal, he played for the Union Academy, FC Delco, Philadelphia Soccer Club and Fox Chase SC. Internationally he’s represented the U.S. at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup and 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Dos Santos is San Diego’s second goalkeeper signing before their debut season, joining 18-year-old US youth international Duran Ferree.
