Rosemont soccer programs transitioning to club sports in 2026

Men’s and women’s soccer, along with the other NCAA Division III programs at Rosemont College, will transition to club sports at Rosemont College after the spring 2026 semester, the College announced earlier this week.

The move is part of a merger with Villanova University planned for 2027.

“This merger agreement was signed because it will secure the best possible options for the future of our students, faculty and staff,” a letter posted on Rosemont’s athletics website stated. “This academic transition will start in 2027, and Rosemont’s Division III athletics will transition to club sports following the end of the spring 2026 semester.”

Rosemont’s soccer programs join Bryn Athyn College as recent casualties of a local shake-up in higher education. Both programs at Bryn Athyn, which competed in the same conference as Rosemont, have been shuttered as part of a transition to club sports.
