Union games to re-air on NBC Sports Philadelphia

For the first time since 2022, Philadelphia Union matches are coming back to local television. And while it’s not quite the live broadcast deal some fans may have hoped for, it’s still a welcome step toward greater accessibility.
On Thursday, the Union announced a new partnership with NBC Sports Philadelphia, which will re-air the remainder of the club’s 2025 MLS regular season matches. The replays begin with the Union’s June 14 match against Charlotte FC, scheduled to air on a 48-hour delay on Tuesday, June 17 at 7 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Philadelphia Plus.
As part of Major League Soccer’s national media rights agreement, all live Union matches will continue to stream exclusively on Apple TV+ via MLS Season Pass. The NBCSP deal works by offering delayed replays, with matches airing between 48 hours and up to 7 days after the original broadcast.
“We are thrilled to announce our new local TV partnership with NBC Sports Philadelphia,” said Philadelphia Union President, Tim McDermott. “This collaboration greatly enhances the visibility of the MLS Season Pass original content to the wide range of viewership for NBCSP so that our passionate fans are closer to the game than ever before.”
While not a full return to traditional live TV, the re-air deal helps fill a growing demand for alternative viewing options. Particularly for fans who either don’t subscribe to Apple TV+ or missed the original stream. For many, especially casual viewers or families used to flipping through local channels, it’s a bridge back to the team they love.
NBC Sports Philadelphia is a familiar name for local sports fans, and the move gives the Union another touchpoint with viewers who regularly follow the Phillies, Flyers, and 76ers on the same network. It’s also a chance for the Union to connect with new fans who may be discovering the team for the first time on their home TVs.
The Union’s last local TV presence came in 2022, when one match aired on NBC Sports Philadelphia and the rest were split between 6abc and PHL17. Since then, the team’s visibility on traditional platforms has diminished due to the Apple TV+ exclusivity deal.
Now, with the team currently sitting atop the standings and generating momentum on and off the pitch, this re-air deal couldn’t come at a better time. It offers fans another way to stay engaged, relive the highs, and perhaps spark interest among new viewers in the region.
All re-air times are subject to change, so fans should check listings regularly. But one thing is clear: Union matches are finally back on local TV. Even if they’re fashionably late.
