Philadelphia native Nyk Sessock signs first team deal with Atlanta United

Philadelphia native Nyk Sessock is the latest Philadelphia Union Academy grad to officially join the ranks of Major League Soccer, signing a first team contract with Atlanta United.

His contract is through the remainder of the 2025 season with a club option for 2026.

The 25-year-old defender – who played with Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals as a youth before joining the Union’s academy, earned a promotion to the first team from MLS Next Pro affiliate Atlanta United 2. Sessock joined Atlanta’s second team after spending his first two seasons as a pro with Inter Miami II.

The former Pitt and Indiana defender has made 14 appearances in Next Pro and made his MLS debut as short-term loanee on June 12 against New York City FC. He also appeared for the first team in a Leagues Cup match against Pumas on August 2.
