The Philadelphia Union came up short on the scoreboard in their second preseason match on Friday morning at the Marbella Football Center.

Danish Superliga team FC Nordsjælland scored twice in the first of three 45-minute periods in the match, striking in the 17th and 39th minute. Union center back Olwethu Makhanya grabbed a goal with a header off a corner kick in the 129th minute of play but the Boys in Blue weren’t able to find another and fell 2-1 in their second preseason match in Spain.

Head coach Bradley Carnell used 25 players in the match, including Union II standout Giovanny Sequera, who was against listed as a trialist on updates shared by the Philadelphia Union on social media. The only active player on the roster to not appear in the match was Markus Anderson, who also did not feature in the Union’s 1-1 draw with SK Sigma Olomouc on Tuesday morning.

Next up, the Union will face Montenegran club FK Buducnost next Thursday in their final match at Marbella before returning to the U.S.
