Upper Darby, Pa. native Aboubacar Camara is taking his talents to Maine, signing with USL League One club Portland Hearts of Pine.

Camara is a graduate of the Philadelphia Union Academy who played in USL League Two with Philadelphia Lone Star and made three stops in college at Louisville, Kentucky and Penn State.

The prolific goal-scorer joins Hearts of Pine on a performance-based contract.

“Abou comes with a great scoring record from top college programs,” head coach Bobby Murphy said in a news release announcing the signing. “He will add depth and flexibility to our No. 9 spot.”

Camara was a prolific goal-scorer during his time in the Union Academy and continued that in his NCAA career, finding the back of the net 33 times in 79 appearances across five seasons.

He joins fellow Union Academy grad Kemali Green on the second-year club.
