Iloski and Vassilev receive Team of the Matchday honors
Philadelphia Union teammates Milan Iloski and Indiana Vassilev were named to the MLS Team of the Matchday 28 for their performances in Saturday’s 4-2 win over Orlando City. Iloski claimed his third Team of the Matchday honor of the 2026 season while Vassilev earned his second. Iloski, who scored a hat trick in the win, was named the MLS Player of the Matchday for the first time in his Union career.
The Union continued their strong form with standout performances from the veteran duo. Vassilev scored and assisted Iloski twice, and Iloski’s second hat trick of the season led the Union to their sixth consecutive win, extending the club-record unbeaten streak to 12 matches.
Both players have been crucial for the Union in this time. Iloski has five goals in the Union’s last four matches, and Vassilev has five goal contributions over the last three games. The four goals that Vassilev and Iloski scored made the Union the first team in MLS history to score at least four goals in four consecutive regular-season games.
Milan Iloski was recognized as Player of the Matchday for the first time with the Union, achieving the honor once before with San Diego FC. His hat trick was his second of the season, becoming the third Union player in club history to record multiple hat tricks in a season after Julián Carranza and Dániel Gazdag both did so in 2022. Iloski is the only MLS player with multiple hat tricks this season. His most recent triple was the 15th MLS hat trick in Union history.
His three goals brought his season total to 16, the fourth-most in MLS.
The Union’s hot streak has been reflected in MLS weekly honors. Philadelphia have recorded 32 points in the 12 games since the break, tied for the most points by any club in a 12-match run in league history. As a result, three different Union players have been named MLS Player of the Matchday over the last four matchdays, a feat not accomplished by an MLS club since the 2013
Vancouver Whitecaps. Bruno Damiani and Cavan Sullivan recently claimed Player of the Matchday honors before Iloski’s hat trick performance.
The Union will return after the international break on October 10th , hosting Real Salt Lake at Subaru Park. The Boys in Blue will be looking to extend a club-record unbeaten streak under Ryan Richter and continue an unlikely playoff push.
