Philadelphia Union rookie forward Fabian Herbers collected another award on Monday from his time at Creighton University, this time for his prowess in the classroom.

Herbers was honored with a 2015-16 Big East Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence for men’s soccer. One player per sport received the honor.

The Germany native who spent three years at Creighton before entering the 2016 MLS SuperDraft as a Generation adidas signing had a cumulative GPA of 3.567 while studying international business.

In addition to being on the Big East All-Academic team twice, Herbers was honored earlier this year by the Omaha Sports Hall of Fame as the Omaha Sports Man of the Year, was a first-team NSCAA all-American, and was runner-up to Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris for the 2015 MAC Hermann Trophy as national player of the year.

Herbers has made 17 appearances for the first team this season, starting three matches for the injured C.J. Sapong, and has recorded a goal and two assists.
