Philadelphia Union name replacement for Peter Pappas
ESPN, FOX Sports 1, and TSN’s Janusz Michallik will do color commentary for the Union’s remaining July matches.
In a press release this morning, the Philadelphia Union announced that Janusz Michallik would be replacing Peter Pappas as part of their broadcast team for the final two matches in July. Michallik will serve as color commentary during the Union’s matches against the Montreal Impact this Saturday and against Real Salt Lake on July 31.
Pappas and the club parted ways earlier this week when it was revealed that Pappas had pled guilty in federal court in Newark, New Jersey of pharmaceutical fraud totaling around $500,000.00.
Michallik played soccer professionally in Poland and the United States as well as with the U.S. National Team before taking a job in television, helping the United States win the Gold Cup in 1991. He currently serves as a color analyst for ESPN during their soccer coverage, including ESPN’s coverage of the 2014 World Cup. He is also a studio analyst for Canada’s The Sports Network (TSN) and FOX Sports 1.
