Salesianum School has won 12 of the last 14 state championships in soccer in Delaware and they enter the 2016 season looking to add to a trophy case already overflowing with 15 state titles.

The Wilmington, Delaware-based team also enter the season as the only in the Delaware Valley in the USA TODAY High School Sports/National Soccer Coaches Association Preseason Super 25 for boys fall soccer.

At 14-3-1 last season, Sallies check in at No. 19 in the rankings of high school teams that contest boys soccer in the fall. Northern New Jersey power St. Benedict’s Prep tops the rankings after being ranked No. 2 overall in preseason rankings a year ago.

Salesianum opens the regular season campaign on September 10 against Sussex Tech in the DAAD Tournament at Dover High School and travel to Colorado in mid-September for games against 16th-ranked Fairview High School and Boulder High School.

They host St. Benedict’s Prep on October 8 at a time and location to be announced.

Washington Township (Gloucester County, N.J.) was the lone local team in last year’s preseason Top 25, but Salesianum and Holy Ghost Prep in Bensalem received votes.
