Eight players with local ties make mid-season college player rankings

Eight college soccer players with ties to the region show up in Top Drawer Soccer’s mid-season update of it upperclassmen and freshman rankings.

Temple senior forward Jorge Gomez Sanchez, who is near the top of the national scoring charts with 13 goals, was ranked eighth, followed by Delaware senior forward Guillermo Delgado at No. 29 and UConn defender Jakob Nerwinski (Lawrenceville, N.J.) at 47th.

Two players with ties to the Philadelphia Union Academy appear in the upperclassmen rankings. Penn State senior forward Connor Maloney (Harrisburg, Pa.) was ranked No. 53 and Maryland sophomore forward Sebastian Elney checks in at No. 91.

Three players with ties to the region show up in the top 100 freshmen rankings. Villanova freshman defender Sean Teixeira, who spent time in the New York Red Bulls Academy, was No. 40 while UCLA freshman goalkeeper Kevin Silva (Bethlehem, Pa.), who played club soccer at Players Development Academy was 51st and Philadelphia Union Academy grad Raheem Taylor-Parkes, a freshman at Virginia, was 58th.
