Union Academy teams find success on the road in Virginia and North Carolina

Teams went 7-2-2 over busy weekend in U.S. Soccer Development Academy

Kalil ElMedkhar scored in the ninth minute and Jahmali Waite recorded his second clean sheet of the season to lead the Philadelphia Union U18 team to a 1-0 win over Richmond United over the weekend.

The win was the fourth straight for the U18s, which improved to 5-1-1 on the season. The U18s are in second place in the Atlantic Division, 11 points behind 9-0-0 New York Red Bulls.

U16s
Axel Picazo recorded a brace to lead the U16s to a 3-1 win over Richmond United.

Picazo scored in the 25th minute and added a second in the 49th minute. The goals were the second and third of the season for Picazo, who is tied for the team lead with Daniel Bloyou with two game-winning goals.

Richmond United cut the lead in half with a Nolan Coetzee goal in the 56th minute, but Jason Aoyama added an insurance goal in the 82nd minute, his first of the season.

The Union improved to 4-1-2 with the win and are in third place in the Atlantic Division, eight points behind the first place New York Red Bulls.

U14s
The U14 team went 2-1 in three games over the weekend in Advance, North Carolina as part of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy showcase.

Aboubacar Camara scored a pair of goals in the first eight minutes and Julian Anderson and Paxten Aaronson added goals in a 4-2 win over Atlanta United in the first of a doubleheader on Saturday.

Capital Area Railhawks won the second game on Saturday 2-0, but the U14s finished the showcase with a 3-2 win over Orlando City thanks to a 68th minute goal from Jack de Vries.

Lukas Burns and Tianshuo Yang also found the back of the net in the game for the Union.

U13s
The U13 team went 1-1-1 in their showcase games in North Carolina.

Atlanta United edged the Union in the first game 2-1 on a 47th minute goal by Michael Jensen. Atlanta opened the scored in the 23rd minute through Michael Barrueta, but Christopher Hackley found an equalizer five minutes later.

Arnel Miscic scored the game-winning goal in the 38th minute to beat Weston FC 2-1 in the second game. Asher Laackman also scored for the Union in the game.

Jackson Debusschere put the Union up in the 7th minute in the third game against New England Revolution, but the Revolution equalized with a goal from Christian Bejar and the game ended as a 1-1 draw.

U12s
The U12s swept a two-game set with Cedar Stars Academy to extend their winning streak to seven and improved to 18-1-1 on the season.

Conrad Brady had a brace and Ian Abbey, Jason Barragan, Nelson Pierre and Julian Pittaoulis scored in a 6-1 win in the first game.

Anthony Derk and Timothy Madden had hat tricks and Luke Martelli added a goal in a 7-0 win in the second game.
