Camden County College’s 22-game unbeaten streak came to a halt on Sunday in a 4-0 loss to Richland in the Division III junior college national championship for men’s soccer.

Sergio Lara had a first-half brace and Mikkel Rohde had two goals and an assist to lead the Texas program nicknamed the Thunderducks to their sixth national title and first since 2007.

Camden County goalkeeper Elliot Hoysted was under pressure through much of the game, saving eight of 12 shots on goal while his opposing keeper did not have to make a single save all game.

The Cougars beat host Herkimer 2-1 in the semifinal on a double overtime winner by Herbert Haase on Friday after shutting down Prince George’s in the opening game of the national championships on Thursday.

Hoysted had an eight-save clean sheet in that opening match and Pedro Junior and Luiz Novo had the goals for the Cougars. Camden County won the District 19 final in late October with a 6-2 win over Sussex County.
