Philadelphia Union to host Toronto FC in 2017 home opener
The Union will also open the season in Vancouver against the Whitecaps.
Mark your calendars, folks. The Union will take on the defending Eastern Conference Champions Toronto FC on March 11 at 4:30 p.m. at Talen Energy Stadium. Supporters will pile in for the club’s eighth MLS season, the second since Talen Energy has assumed the naming rights of the former PPL Park.
The Union are 2-0-1 in the last three home openers, boosting their all-time record to 4-2-1 in their first home match of the season.
While a complete schedule has yet to be released and should be coming out in the coming weeks, the league did make it known that the home opener will come just less than a week following a trip up to Canada to take on Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place.
The 2017 regular season schedule will consist of 17 home matches and 17 on the road. Making up the 34 matches will be a home and away against all conference opponents, a single match against non-conference opponents, and a third match against a select few clubs in the same conference.
