Justin McMaster commits to Wake Forest
Bethlehem Steel FC and Union Academy forward has college soccer in his future planning
Wake Forest lost one recruit from the Philadelphia Union Academy for the fall but could be gaining another.
Forward Justin McMaster has committed to the ACC power for the fall, joining Union Academy and Bethlehem Steel FC teammate Mark McKenzie in the Demon Deacons potential 2017 recruiting class.
Defender Matthew Real previously committed to the North Carolina school, but signed a professional contract with Bethlehem Steel last month.
Both current Union homegrowns also backed out of college commitments. Auston Trusty signed a first team contract the week he was expected to report to North Carolina last August and Derrick Jones returned to to the academy in the fall of 2015 after backing out of a commitment to Rhode Island.
McMaster joined the Union U16 team in the 2014-15 season after moving to the U.S. from Jamaica. He had 12 goals his first season, 15 between the U16 and U18 teams last season and has three in eight appearances so far this year.
The 17-year-old made eight appearances for Bethlehem last season as an amateur, logging 260 minutes. He was also recently called into the U.S. U18 team for the second straight year for a domestic training camp in Florida. He also received a U16 call-up to a Florida camp in June 2015.
