For the third straight year, the Philadelphia Union will face the New York Red Bulls in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

The Union will go on the road to play the Red Bulls on either June 27 or 28 in the Round of 16 of the 104th edition of the tournament.

The Union advanced to the Round of 16 on Wednesday with a 3-1 win over Harrisburg City Islanders at home. The Red Bulls advanced with a 1-0 win over New York City FC at Red Bull Arena on Wednesday.

The Union beat the Red Bulls in 2016 at home 2-1 in the Round of 16 and advanced to the semifinals in 2015 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Red Bull Arena. The only other meeting between the two teams in Open Cup play came in 2010 when the Union lost 2-1 in the play-in round.

The Union beat New York Red Bulls 3-0 at home for their first win of the 2017 season in league play on May 6 and the teams play this Sunday and again at Red Bull Arena on September 17.

The Open Cup match will be part of a span of three matches over a nine-day period for the Union with D.C. United visiting Talen Energy Stadium on Saturday, June 24 and New England Revolution coming to town on Sunday, July 2.
