Bořek Dočkal in training with the Union, but still not on the roster

Czech Republic international was spotted in training today at the Power Training Complex in Chester

After being spotted on the bench with the Philadelphia Union in their final preseason match in Florida on Saturday, Czech Republic international Bořek Dočkal has traveled with the team back home to Chester.

But he still isn’t officially a member of the team.

How’s that for frustrating?

Fans wait anxiously all off-season for the Union to sign a 10 and here they are with the home opener on Saturday, an attacking central midfielder on their training pitch who isn’t even on the roster yet.

He was even wearing a training top with the No. 10, as reported today by Jonathan Tannenwald of the Philadelphia Inquirer and Matthew De George of Delco Times.

The team isn’t saying much about Dočkal — head coach Jim Curtin acknowledged last week that they were negotiating a potential deal with the midfielder who last played in China — but it’s hard to imagine he’d be on the bench in Florida and on the training pitch wearing Union gear with reporters present if he wasn’t close to signing.

Right? Stay tuned.
