Philadelphia was officially named as a host of a quarterfinal double-header for this summer’s Gold Cup on Tuesday, after being named as one of the host cities back in May.

Lincoln Financial Field will host a pair of quarterfinals for the 2019 Gold Cup that will feature teams from the group that the United States will be in, so if everything goes as the planners hope, the US Men’s National Team will likely be playing in Philadelphia next summer.

This is not the first time that Philadelphia and Lincoln Financial Field have hosted Gold Cup matches, as quarterfinals were held in Philadelphia during the 2009 & 2017 Gold Cup. The 2015 final was also hosted by Philadelphia, when Mexico hoisted the trophy over Jamaica.

Philadelphia will host the winners and runners up of Group B and Group D, with the United States being the seeded nation for Group D and Costa Rica being the seeded nation for Group B. The rest of the groups will be determined once qualifying is finished in March of 2019.

Philadelphia Eagles President Don Smolenski, in regards to the hosting the Gold Cup at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, said:

Additionally, Larry Needle, Executive Director of PHL Sports, a division of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, said:

Ticket details have not been released yet, but be sure to check out www.goldcup.org to sign up for pre-sale offers.

In addition to Philadelphia, Houston will host the other quarterfinal double-header on June 29th, with the semi-final matches being played in Glendale, AZ, and Nashville on July 2nd and 3rd. The final will be held in Chicago at Soldier Field, on July 7th.
